What SMTP addresses are required for uConnect on-premise and Exchange Online mailboxes?

Answer

The addresses required vary based on the mailbox type (OU or AD3) and location (On-Prem and Exchange Online).

Exchange Online

 All AD3 mailboxes in Exchange Online are required to have the following SMTP addresses:

• mailID@ucdavis.edu*
• loginID@ad3.ucdavis.edu
• loginID@ucdavis365.mail.onmicrosoft.com (routing address)

All OU mailboxes in Office 365 are required to have the following SMTP addresses:

• loginID@ou.ad3.ucdavis.edu*
• loginID@365.ou.ad3.ucdavis.edu (routing address)
• loginID@ucdavis.edu - only if the OU mailbox has a corresponding departmental MailID in Mothra

On-Premise

All AD3 mailboxes on-premise are required to have the following SMTP addresses:

• mailID@ucdavis.edu*
• loginID@ad3.ucdavis.edu

All OU mailboxes on-premise are required to have the following SMTP addresses:

• loginID@ou.ad3.ucdavis.edu*
• mailID@ucdavis.edu - only if the OU mailbox has a corresponding departmental MailID in Mothra

*This should be the UPN, for more information about UPN see the uConnect UserPrincipalName (UPN) Policy

Note: OU SMTP addresses can be modified by unchecking the "Automatically update email addresses based on email address policy" check box in the mailboxes properties in the EMC (applies to on-premise mailboxes only).
