Question
How do I change my passphrase?
If you are not physically on the UC Davis campus and any of the rest are true, then your only option is to contact the Service Desk during their operating hours.
1 - do not know your log in ID - this is not your Student ID or Employee ID number.
2 - do not know your passphrase or the answers to your challenge questions.
3 - you are having problems getting your information to match
Overview
Short answer is:
- Go to Computing Accounts
- Click Change your passphrase.
If you cannot perform those steps, select methods 3-5 as additional options. For more details on options 1-3, be sure to click >>Click here for the steps<< under each subheader.
Your UC Davis Computing Account consists of two key components:
- Your Kerberos LoginID (typically 6 to 8 alphanumeric characters)
- Your Kerberos Passphrase (between 12 and 48 alphanumeric characters)
If you do not know Student ID or Employee ID number, see https://kb.ucdavis.edu/?id=00197 under "Missing your ID number, correct name on your record, or having problems making your account? "
- Wait 24 hours before using your account after you first create it. It takes time to process your new account.
- Wait 20 minutes after resetting your passphrase. It can take this long for some services to recognize the new one.
