Question

I have created a survey in Qualtrics, and I would like to integrate it with UC Davis CAS single sign-on so that campus users must log in with their UC Davis computing accounts (login ID and Kerberos passphrase) in order to take the survey.

Additionally, I would like to capture the logged in username as part of the Qualtrics data.

How can I do this?

Overview

Qualtrics provides an integration with CAS single sign-on that works with the UC Davis CAS service.

Answer

The Qualtrics knowledge base provides directions on configuring Qualtrics to use various single sign-on authenticators:

https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-flow/advanced-elements/authenticator/sso-authenticator/

This mechanism supports the UC Davis CAS service.

Follow the directions for CAS from the article linked above, using the following parameters:

Using these settings, the UC Davis login ID of the survey respondent will be captured in an embedded data field named "username."

Optionally, you can use the "Associate Respondent With Panel" option. To do this, create your panel (contact list) with each respondent's UC Davis login ID in the "External Data Reference" field. Then, in the CAS options in Survey Flow, select the relevant panel (contact list) and set the "Identified By Field(s)" option to "External Data Reference."
