Question

How do I configure my Android device for Office 365?

Overview

IET has begun to roll out Office 365 for select divisions of IET and is in the process of expanding their offering to other organizations on campus. Office 365 offers many of the features of uConnect but with all of your content hosted ‘in the cloud’ versus on premise.

Answer

Note: If you have an existing uConnect on-premise account we recommend removing that profile first before proceeding with the steps below. Also, due to the many versions of the Android mobile operating system these specific steps might not follow directly with the options presented on your screen. Please refer to the server and user authentication credentials for setup assistance.

  1. Tap the Settings icon.
  2. Go to Accounts.
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  5. Enter your account information and select Manual setup.  (Note: Mobile devices may need to remove/re-add Office365 accounts after enrolling in Duo)
  6. In the Domain\username field enter ucdavis.edu\emailaddress (some Android versions may require this field be left empty or enter: \emailaddress)
  7. In the Exchange server field  enter outlook.office365.com (some versions of Android may require you to use m.outlook.com) and select Next.
  8. Select OK if you agree to the Activation measures.
  9. It may take some time for your account information to be retrieved.
  10. Select OK if you agree to the Remote security administration measures.
  11. You will then be able to configure your Accounts options. Select Next.
  12. Select Activate if you agree to these measures.
  13. You can then name your account and tap Next.

Manual Server Information

Note: IT Express receives feedback (almost weekly) from Android users that report the following server information is either incorrect or does not match the fields they have available on their screen. The information below has been provided to us via Microsoft's documentation for Android and Office 365. Unfortunately, due to how the Android operating system is repackaged or bundled with various service providers it is impossible for us to prepare a singular knowledge base article to address all of the different configurations out there.
