How do I add or remove AggieVideo content from the "Media Gallery" tool in Canvas?

Overview

Posting videos in the "Media Gallery" requires the activation of the "My Media" and "Media Gallery" tools. The "My Media" tool is Canvas's window into AggieVideo. It allows you to view and edit your AggieVideo content from Canvas, as well as publish videos to the "Media Gallery". The "Media Gallery" tool is a space in Canvas for students to view your AggieVideo content.

Publishing videos to the Media Gallery

*If you do not see the "My Media" and "Media Gallery" tabs on your Canvas course you will need to enable them. You can find instructions below in the "Activating the My Media and Media Gallery tabs" section*

• In your Canvas course, click on the "My Media" tab
• Select the video(s) by clicking the checkbox on the left of the thumbnail, then on the top right click "ACTIONS" then "Publish"
  

• Click "Published"
• You will then be prompted to select the course(s) in which you would like this file to appear. This allows you to upload many media files to many courses at once

• Once you have clicked the blue "Save" button you will be notified that your content has been successfully published

• Students will now be able to see the published media files in the "Media Gallery"

Removing Videos from the Media Gallery

Removal Option 1

• Navigate to your Canvas "Media Gallery" tab
• Hover your mouse over the thumbnail of the video you want to remove
• Click the "..." icon
• On the left side of the thumbnail click the "Remove from channel" button, circle with an X in the center

• Click the red "Remove" button

Removal Option 2

• In your Canvas course, click on the "My Media" tab
• Select the video(s) by clicking the checkbox on the left of the thumbnail, then on the top right click "ACTIONS" then "Publish"

• Uncheck the course(s) you want to remove the video(s) from, to remove the video(s) from all courses click "Private"

• Click "Save"
• If you receive a warning stating that you are unpublishing material, click "Ok"

Activating the My Media and Media Gallery tabs

• In your Canvas course click the "Settings" tab, then click "Navigation"

• Scroll down to see the items hidden from Navigation. Within the list you will see "My Media" and "Media Gallery" (if not already enabled)
• Click the 3 vertical dots icon and click "+ Enable" to activate these tools.

• After you have enabled both of these tools, they will appear in the list of the pages visible to students in the course navigation.

• Be sure to click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

• "My Media" and "Media Gallery" will now display in your course navigation. On the left click the "Media Gallery" tab to link your AggieVideo account to your Canvas account.
• Once you have clicked "Media Gallery" the page will prompt you to authorize your account
• Click "Authorize" once you have confirmed it is your correct name and email

• Once authorized, your "My Media" tab will show you all the videos you have access to on AggieVideo
