How do I allow pop-ups for UC Davis websites?
Overview
Sometimes it might be beneficial to allow pop-ups across any site whose URL ends with ".ucdavis.edu" as some browser version can have difficulty with some sites.
Answer
Chrome
- With Chrome open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
- From that drop-down menu, select settings.
- Click Privacy and security tab on the left menu.
- Under the Privacy and security, select Site settings.
- Under Content, select Pop-ups and redirects.
- Under Customized behaviors, Click the Add button next to Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects.
- Enter [*.]ucdavis.edu into the available field and click Add.
Firefox
- With Firefox open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
- From the drop-down menu, select settings.
- At the top of the settings window, Search on pop-up.
- Click the Exceptions button beside Block pop-up windows.
- In the Address of website field enter *.ucdavis.edu and Save Changes.
Safari
Safari does not have the ability to allow specific sites for pop-ups. It is advised that you only disable pop-ups in cases where you cannot continue through a web process.
To disable all pop-up blocking:
- Open the Safari browser, then select Safari in the upper left of the screen.
- Select Preferences from the drop down.
- Select the Websites tab.
- Under the General menu, select Pop-up Windows.
- On the bottom right of the window, click the drop-down menu next to When visiting other websites and select Allow.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the Windows Control Panel and click on Network and Internet.
- Click Internet Options.
- On the Internet Properties screen that appears, select the Privacy tab.
- In the Pop-up Blocker section, click the Settings button.
- In the box under Address of Website to Allow, enter *.ucdavis.edu then click Add.
- Click Close then click OK.
