When will course shells for future terms be loaded into UC Davis Canvas?
Overview
Course shells are automatically generated in Canvas and linked to enrollments based on the Registrar's schedule for releasing course information to Schedule Builder and the Class Search Tool. This is the time frame by which they consider the course schedule official for a term and ready for release. Students are added based on the official enrollments through SISWeb, and instructors are added by a staff member in each department who is responsible for course scheduling.

In Canvas, you do not have to request course shells or manually create them. Course shells will be automatically generated and linked to official course enrollments on the following schedule:
- Winter Quarter 2023 - September 1, 2022
- Spring Semester 2023 - September 1, 2022
- Spring Quarter 2023 - November 1, 2022
- Fall Semester 2023 - March 1, 2023
- Fall Quarter 2023 - March 1, 2023
- Summer Session 2023 - April 18, 2023
- Winter Quarter 2024 - September 1, 2023
