Question

How do I request an exception from campus policy?

Overview

If a Cyber-safety exception is required, a Unit Head (typically a department dean, vice chancellor or vice provost) may request an exception. The department or unit will assume the risk created by the exception.

For updates for your request status email cybersecurity@ucdavis.edu Other service desks do not have access to view into the request in queue.

DUO cannot be removed while your request is processing. If it is not approved, DUO will remain on the account.

Answer

To submit an exception request, visit the UC Davis Service Hub’s Request Service area. Under the Security tab, select and start a Cyber Safety Exception Request form. Once you complete and submit the form via this tool, the request will go to the Information Security Office for an initial review. Only the submitter and the Information Security Office can see the request form in the tool. After reviewing your request, the office will work with you to prepare the document for authorization by your Unit Head.

Exceptions expire one year from the date they are approved. If the matter in question is still out of compliance a year later, then you must request and obtain a new exception before the old exception expires.

Are there resources to help me?

Technologists with advanced technical questions related to the exception request can contact the Information Security Office at cybersecurity@ucdavis.edu.
