Question

Where can I go to determine if a message was really sent from campus?

Overview

Many scam messages try to appear to come from UC Davis. They may also try to provide links to non-UC Davis servers that are designed to look like UC Davis web sites.

Answer

Information and Educational Technology (IET) maintains a registry of authentic messages at https://security.ucdavis.edu/secure/authentic/index.html

This is not a complete list of authentic campus emails. A message can be legitimate even if it is not shown here. The IT Express Computing Services Help Desk does not post messages to this site until it has confirmed that the message is genuine.

The campus sends countless legitimate messages by email. If you ever doubt the authenticity of any campus email you receive, contact IT Express at ithelp@ucdavis.edu or 530-754-HELP (4357) for guidance.
