How do I access the DESII application from a PC?
Answer
Accessing DESII Connect via RemoteApp (authorized users only):
DESII is a web application that can be accessed through RemoteApp. Only authorized users may access RemoteApp.
To access the DESII application, you will need:
(1) UCD Login ID and your Kerberos password. This is your campus computing account login ID and passphrase.
(2) DESII User Name and password. This is your DESII system user ID and password.
The DESII User Name and password is assigned to authorized DESII editors by the DESII support team. For editing access, please visit our access page: https://financeandbusiness.ucdavis.edu/systems/desii/access.
Users must connect to a remote site (DESII Connect) in order to run the DESII application from the remote site. Follow the instructions below to access the DESIIConnect remote site; from there you will be able to launch the DESII application on the desktop that appears.
FROM YOUR DESKTOP
1. Open a web browser and open the DESII homepage at https://financeandbusiness.ucdavis.edu/systems/desii.
2. Click on the quick link Remote App Login (for Authorized PC users only) to navigate to CFO RemoteApp and Desktop Connection site.
3. Authenticate with Kerberos credentials. Example below:
- Username: ad3\yourUCDloginID
- Password: Kerberos Passphrase
4. Click the DesiiConnect icon
5. You will then be prompted to open/download a remote desktop file (depending on your browser). Accept the prompt and double-click on the icon after the download is completed.
6. Enter your Kerberos credentials at any authentication prompts. Example below:
- Username: ad3\yourUCDloginID
- Password: Kerberos Passphrase
7. If the dialog box "Do you trust the publisher of this RemoteApp Program?" appears, check the box, Don’t ask me again for remote connection from this publisher, and select Connect.
FROM THE REMOTE DESKTOP
8. Enter your Kerberos credentials at any authentication prompts. Please note you do not need to have the domain name before your Username as in the previous UCD ID Login screens. Example below:
- Username: YourUCDloginID
- Password: Kerberos Passphrase
Note that the DESII Connect icon appears on your taskbar once you successfully launch DESII Connect; you can toggle to it by clicking the icon. (As shown above and enlarged below, it looks like the Explorer icon except it has two green arrows pointing towards each other.)
9. When the DESII application window appears as shown below, enter your DESII User Name and Password. If you have any questions about the DESII login, contact desii@ucdavis.edu.
