Question

How do I change your home page template type?

Overview

By default new sites are created using a flex page as the home index page. Of the two template pages available, the flex page has the most configurable options, but it’s also possible it offers more than you really need or want. If that’s the case – if you’re a site administrator or manager – you have the ability to reconfigure your site to use the internal page – standard instead.

Answer

  1. If you’ve already published the site, you’ll need to un-publish it.
    • Select your home index page. Click the Publish tab.
    • Select the un-publish mode. Click Submit.
  2. Next, remove the existing default index page.
    • Go to /Base Folder/_Site configuration and click the Edit tab.
    • Under Site settings > Site information, under Site’s home page, delete the link to the index page.
    • Click Submit to save.
  3. Next, create your new index page.
    • Click New | Site Assets | Standard page.
    • Configure the page with these settings:
      • System name: index
      • Parent folder: Base folder or [/]
      • Display name: Home
      • Title: Home or whatever title you want on your home page
      • Any other content you want to add at this time
    • Click Submit to save.
  4. Return to your site configuration page.
    • Go to /Base Folder/_Site configuration and click the Edit tab.
    • Under Site settings > Site information, under Site’s home page browse to your site’s new index page. Click Confirm.
    • Click Submit to save.
