I want a Google Workspace account. How do I sign up?
Your account will automatically be activated if you were eligible for Google Workspace with your major or department.
To access your account, go to https://drive.google.com/a/ucdavis.edu.
I already have a UC Davis Google Workspace account. Where do I log in?
To access your Google Workspace account, go to https://drive.google.com/a/ucdavis.edu and enter your CAS/Kerberos username and password.
Can I connect the UC Davis email address to other Google Apps like Google Play and Google Pay?
It is not recommended. When your UC Davis account closes or transitions to the temporary former students email and has access to Google Workspace, other Google owned services may become unavailable if you have connected them to your UC Davis account.
This includes but is not limited to Google Play, Google Pay, and Google Phone. Google has stated they do not transfer these items between Google accounts.
I work for/am a student with the UC Davis Health System. Can I have access to Google Workspace?
No. Because of the transmission of sensitive data related to HIPAA, it is against University of California policy for the UC Davis Health System to use Google Apps. Contact the TOC and UCDH Compliance for more information. Email: hs-iscs@ucdavis.edu Phone: 916-734-4357 (Operates 24/7) Online Support: https://ucdh.service-now.com/itss Website: http://intranet.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/it/
Davismail is not available for those affiliated with UCDH.
Do temporary affiliates also get Google Workspace accounts?
Yes, all qualifying computing accounts will receive Google Workspace accounts once the account is created. Davismail is not available.
Don't students already have Google Workspace, including Gmail?
Not all students are eligible. Undergraduate Students and some graduate/professional students use DavisMail, which is based on Gmail, and includes most Google Apps.
Do students, faculty, and staff have access to the same Google Workspace?
Yes, except for anyone associated with UCDH, including students with majors under their purview. Also, only eligible students have the UC Davis version of Gmail (aka DavisMail). Departments selecting DavisMail with assistance from Local IT for their email service will have the same access and functionality as students but all email closes when you leave UC Davis.
Why is Google asking me for my age?
Google asks for this information to determine if the user is over 13-years-old. If you enter a birthdate that establishes you as under 13-years-old, Google will lock your account.

No. Due to the nature of higher education types of Google Workspaces, each university does not fall under basic Google Workspace options. Some features may become available but most are not supported by UC Davis admins. Example: Google Classroom and Google Voice are not available for use with your UC Davis computing account.
Use and data associated with Google Workspace and other apps from Google with the individual UC Davis account fall under the Acceptable Use Policy and are considered instructional information.
Please consider this when using all computing account resources.
