How do I renew my SAS license?
Overview
SAS licenses expire every year on a specific date, after which time SAS will not will not launch. You must purchase SAS again then follow the steps below to renew your license (no need to reinstall).

Note: Admin rights on your PC are required to renew the SAS license. If you are a UC Davis faculty or staff member and do not have these rights on your work PC, please contact your IT support for assistance.
- Make sure all SAS sessions are closed. If there is a SAS expiration message on your screen, close it.
- Download the the SAS license archive (9.4_TR_Workstation_Licenses.zip) from the ServiceHub MyStuff/Software. For detailed steps, see How do I download software?
- Right-click the downloaded file then select Extract all. Note the location of the extracted folder.
- From the windows Start menu, select SAS > Renew SAS Software 9.4.
Note: Depending on your system configuration, you may be prompted to authorize the file to run or to enter an administrator account username and password. - Choose the language for the renewal wizard then click OK.
- The SAS Deployment Manager will start.
- On the Select License Renewal screen, ensure Apply SAS foundation license file for renewal is checked then click Next.
- On the Specify SAS Installation Data File screen, click Browse then navigate to and open the 9.4_TR_Workstation_Licenses.zip folder you extracted in step 3 above. In that folder, open the folder that corresponds to the OS and version of SAS you have installed (usually 9.4_SAS_Windows_Workstation_64_TR). Select the file in that folder, then click Open.
- The installation data file details will now be displayed. Click Next.
- On the Summary screen, click Start.
- A green check mark on the Deployment Complete screen indicates success. Click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the process.
If you are unable to access the Deployment Manager, try the following:
- Method 1: Open the SAS Installation Data file. Copy everything in between “proc senit...” until right after run, save” (include run and save). Open the SAS program as an Administrator. Copy and paste into the Editor. Then click running man. Renewal Completed.
- Method 2: In Explorer, navigate to Program files/ SAShome/ DeploymentManager. Run the program as an administrator. Once the Deployment Manager is launched, you should see under administrative task “renew software”.
