Question

How do I find the ServiceNow Assignment Group(s) for a particular individual?

Overview

This tool was designed for when you know the name of the person that you need to assign an Incident to, but not the assignment group for that individual.


Answer

1. In an incident, click the icon to the right of the Assigned to field. 

2. A lookup Window opens. Locate the person and click their name in the left column. You’ll be presented with the Assignment Group(s) that the person belongs to on the right. 


3. Select an assignment group, then click OK to populate this information in your ticket. 


To view all the members of an Assignment group from an incident

1. Enter the Assignment group name into the Assignment group field

2. Click the magnifying glass icon on the Assigned to field. The group member list will appear.
