How do I install the BigFix agent on my Windows computer?

Overview

Download the Windows agent, extract the files and then run the setup application. These instructions and images are for Windows 7 and may vary for different versions of Windows and different browsers.  Additionally, you will need administrator rights to your system to complete the BigFix agent installation.

Answer

To install the BigFix agent on your Windows computer, please perform the following steps:

1. Browse to https://getbigfix.ucdavis.edu, authenticating with your UCD Login ID and password.

2. Click on the button labeled Win Install to download the Windows installer package.

3. Click on the Save button to save the download to your computer.

4. Click on the Windows Explorer icon in the taskbar.

5. Click on the Downloads link under Favorites.

6. Right click on the downloaded file.

7. Click on Extract All.

8. Click Extract in the confirming dialogue.

9. If the extract process didn’t automatically open the extracted folder, open the extracted folder.

10. Right click the setup application and click Run as administrator.

11. In the User Account Control dialogue, click Yes to allow the program to make changes.

11. Select the desired language and click OK to continue the installation.

12. Click Next to continue the installation.

13. Select the desired folder and click Next to continue the installation.

14. Click Install to continue the installation.

15. Click Finish to complete the installation.
