How do I allow pop-ups for UC Davis websites?

Overview

Sometimes it might be beneficial to allow pop-ups across any site that uses .ucdavis.edu as some browser version can have difficulty with some sites.

Answer

Chrome

1. With Chrome open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
2. From that drop-down menu, select settings.
3. At the bottom of the settings window, select show advanced settings.
4. Under the privacy settings, select the "Content Settings" button.
5. In that window, scroll down to the Pop-Up section and select the "Manage Exceptions" button.
6. Enter [*.]ucdavis.edu into the available field and select done.

Firefox

1. With Firefox open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
2. From the drop-down menu, select settings.
3. At the top of the settings window, select content.
4. At the top of this page, select exceptions.
5. Add the following information *.ucdavis.edu and select allow, then close.

Safari

Safari does not have the ability to allow pop-ups for an entire domain (such as *.ucdavis.edu).

To enable pop-ups for specific websites:

1. In Safari, open the website that you want to allow pop-ups on.
2. Click on the Safari menu and select Settings.
3. Select the Websites tab.
4. In the General panel on the left side, scroll down and select Pop-up Windows.
5. In the panel on the right side, under Currently Open Websites, set the current website to Allow pop-ups.

Edge & Internet Explorer

1. Open the Windows Control Panel and click on Internet Options.
2. On the Internet Properties screen that appears, select the Privacy tab.
3. In the Pop-up Blocker section, click the Settings button.
4. In the box under Address of Website to Allow, enter *.ucdavis.edu then click Add.
5. Click Close then click OK.
