How do I allow pop-ups for UC Davis websites?
Overview
Sometimes it might be beneficial to allow pop-ups across any site that uses .ucdavis.edu as some browser version can have difficulty with some sites.
Answer
Chrome
- With Chrome open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
- From that drop-down menu, select settings.
- At the bottom of the settings window, select show advanced settings.
- Under the privacy settings, select the "Content Settings" button.
- In that window, scroll down to the Pop-Up section and select the "Manage Exceptions" button.
- Enter [*.]ucdavis.edu into the available field and select done.
Firefox
- With Firefox open, select the three horizontal lines icon in the upper right corner.
- From the drop-down menu, select settings.
- At the top of the settings window, select content.
- At the top of this page, select exceptions.
- Add the following information *.ucdavis.edu and select allow, then close.
Safari
Safari does not have the ability to allow pop-ups for an entire domain (such as *.ucdavis.edu).
To enable pop-ups for specific websites:
- In Safari, open the website that you want to allow pop-ups on.
- Click on the Safari menu and select Settings.
- Select the Websites tab.
- In the General panel on the left side, scroll down and select Pop-up Windows.
- In the panel on the right side, under Currently Open Websites, set the current website to Allow pop-ups.
Edge & Internet Explorer
- Open the Windows Control Panel and click on Internet Options.
- On the Internet Properties screen that appears, select the Privacy tab.
- In the Pop-up Blocker section, click the Settings button.
- In the box under Address of Website to Allow, enter *.ucdavis.edu then click Add.
- Click Close then click OK.
