Overview
Follow these instructions if you have a currently Duo-enrolled device with you, such as your old smartphone, or if your new smartphone has the same phone number as your old smartphone.
If you do not have one of your currently enrolled devices with you or your QR code has expired, you may have problems completing these instructions. If so, call IT Express at (530) 754–4357, and they will remove your previous device. Then enroll your smartphone in Duo.
STEP 1: Begin Duo Enrollment from Your Computer
Note: These steps must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer.
a) Open a web browser to https://computingaccounts.ucdavis.edu.
b) Select Duo Multifactor Device Manager from the main menu.
c) Log into CAS.
d) When the DUO prompt appears click the "Other Options".
e) Then click the "Phone Call" option.
f) Once you are in the device management page, click Add a device.
g) Select Duo Mobile.
h) Enter your phone number, then click Continue. Confirm that you have entered the correct number, then click Yes it's correct.
STEP 2: Install the Duo Mobile App on Your Smartphone
a) Go to the App Store or Play Store on your smartphone.
b) Search for Duo Mobile.
c) Install the app on your smartphone. There is no fee to install the app.
STEP 3: Complete Enrollment Using Your Computer and Your Smartphone
a) After completing the installation of the app on the smartphone, open the Duo Mobile app.
b) With the Activate Duo Mobile screen displaying on the computer, click I have existing accounts.
c) Enter or select your UC Davis account information.
d) After authenticating with Duo, you should see a screen that states you have an existing backup. Click Next.
f) Open the Duo Mobile app on your old phone and click the hamburger icon to the left of the Duo.
g) Click Settings.
h) Tap View QR code.
i) On the new phone, click Scan QR code and scan the QR code displaying on the old phone.
j) Click OK.
