Question

How do I setup email forwarding?

Overview

Non-UC Davis Health affiliates are able to forward their UC Davis email address to another destination.

If you are affiliated with UC Davis Health you will be unable to forward your UC email emails. UC Davis Health affiliates with questions about this policy can contact the UC Davis Health Technology Operations Center at 916-734-4357.

Answer

  1. Go to http://accounts.ucdavis.edu
  2. Click Email forwarding.
  3. Enter your details then click Submit Information.
  4. Select Deliver to other account.
  5. Enter the email address you would like incoming messages sent to.
  6. Enter your kerberos Passphrase then click Continue.

Note: Please allow 15 minutes for any forwarding changes to take effect.

I'm a graduating student, how do I retain access to my email?

Students currently on the DavisMail system will retain their campus email address and email account indefinitely unless Google ends their contract for DavisMail, or the service is discontinued. Once your computing account has closed, you will no longer be able to access DavisMail via myucdavis. To continue accessing DavisMail use https://davismail.ucdavis.edu/.

The above information also applies to students leaving/separating from the university that have not graduated or do not plan to graduate.

I'm a retiring faculty/staff member, how do I retain access to my email?

You will receive an email notification of your account closure. You will have 30 days to access your inbox and 180 days to setup email forwarding for life on your account. If a forwarding address is not provided within the 180 day window, the email address will be deactivated on the campus systems.

If you wish to forward all new incoming messages from your UC Davis address to another address, you can do so by visiting the Computing Accounts portal and selecting Email Forwarding

How do I turn off email forwarding?

Please visit Computing Accounts, select Email Forwarding, then follow the on-screen instructions to disable email forwarding.

I'm not receiving emails to my destination address

Forwarded email will not always be instantaneous to your destination email address. In most cases (99% of the time) email will arrive immediately. However sometimes there can be a delay in processing forwarded email. In addition, some mail that is forwarded might be marked/flagged as spam by the destination's spam filtering protocols. If you still require troubleshooting assistance with email forwarding please contact IT Express. Please note, we are unable to provide full support for non-UC Davis email addresses when forwarding does not occur.
